Image use & copyright

Disclaimer

These photographs were purchased at auction, most likely as part of a house clearance. Based on that, I assume in good faith that I now hold both physical and copyright ownership. Technically, copyright remains with the original photographer unless formally transferred—but in cases like this, where the originator is unknown and likely deceased, I believe the risk of infringement is minimal. If you are the copyright holder or a family member and would prefer an image to be removed from public view, please contact me and I will take it down promptly.

Privacy

I only share images that have historical interest—this might include backgrounds, fashion, or everyday activities. I take great care when deciding what to publish. If a person appears likely to still be alive, or if the photo depicts a private setting (like someone standing outside their own front door), I may choose to blur the face or exclude the image entirely. On the other hand, posed public images—like a shopkeeper standing proudly in their store—are more likely to be included. Context and respect are the guiding principles.

Helping Lost Photos Find Home

In some cases, I publish photographs with the hope—however small—that a relative or descendant might recognise someone and wish to reclaim a piece of their family's history. These images may be of personal events or group gatherings that appear to have sentimental or community value. If that ever happens, I’d be happy to hear from you.
